Consuelo Marie
Artistic Director/Choreographer
Consuelo Marie Barbetta began exploring abstract concepts as a young student, received her BFA in Dance Performance and Composition from California Institute of the Arts, while holding a Master's Degree in Psychology from Grand Canyon University. Consuelo has formal training in Graham, Laban, Bartinieff, and Classical Ballet. Consuelo has performed internationally with Stephan Koplowitz and has appeared in works choreographed by Debra McWaters, Nejla Yatkin, and Rosanna Gamson. She has also danced on stage with Bruce Springsteen, Nancy Sinatra, and others at Randall’s Island Park. Along with appearances in indie, reggaeton, and rock videos, Consuelo is passionate about participating in various site-specific projects. Her obscure interests and eclectic training heavily influence Consuelo’s work in multiple dance forms. These include but are not limited to her extensive background in modern dance while simultaneously incorporating acrobatic elements, combining world dance styles. In Los Angeles, Consuelo’s choreography debuted at the REDCAT Theatre. Before returning to New York, she produced and directed “Remixing the Beatnik.” After moving back to the east coast, Consuelo established MODERN LIMBIC, a contemporary dance company. Her work with MODERN LIMBIC has been presented in and around New York City at venues such as the historical Judson Church and various social and cultural events in Puerto Rico. Consuelo’s film credits include collaborations with Andrew Alderete, Sandra Powers, and Masque Films. Consuelo is a certified personal trainer with credentials in Body Building and Sports Nutrition.
